History of Sterling Shagya Sporthorses

I first fell in love with the Shagya breed in 1990.  As a pre-vet/Equine Science student at Colorado State University I spent a summer working at Adele’s Shagyas in Montana as an intern.  I had never heard of the breed.  Adele had read about the breed in the mid 80’s and imported 5 Shagyas from Europe.  I handled both *Oman and *Shandor for breeding and was so impressed with their temperament.  I knew I would have to have one someday.

In 2003 I finally decided it was time to buy a Shagya of my own.  I contacted Adele to purchase a Shagya.  I wanted an *Oman daughter bred to *Shandor and Adele had a weanling stallion prospect that fit the bill.  I was unsure of getting a stallion, but went ahead with it.  Sterling Silver AF was the first Shagya here in So Cal.  He is a dream to work with.  I now also co-own a Shagya mare and look forward to having my first purebred Shagya born in 2008.
